About Kayla

Hello, and welcome to the crazy but fun mind of your new trainer and wellness coach!

My name is Kayla. I am a single mom to these three cuties you see over here on the right. They are my pride and joy, and the reason I work so hard and try my best to provide a great life for them.

I have been in the fitness industry for 8 years now, and it is a giant passion of mine to help people achieve their goals and live a healthy, fulfilling life. I started out as a wellness coach and from there got certified as a personal trainer, then a nutrition specialist, weight management specialist, group fitness instructor, etc. I don't think I'll ever want to stop learning more about every aspect of this lifestyle, from the theories to the facts, from the fads to the true successes, to different exercise styles, intensities, strategies, etc. I think it's amazing what the human body can do, and I want all of my clients to see this, too!
Obviously you know I basically live in the gym. However, I also love things outside of the gym! I love to play soccer, go on hikes, rock climb, participate in obstacle course races; I am a pro at laser tag (in my head at least); I love all video games but my favorites are the ones that record your movements (and videos). I thoroughly enjoy reading and writing, and I am a giant nerd. My favorite thing outside of my gym life? My kids, of course. They have some of the most creative imaginations, and I enjoy listening to every crazy story they have for me.

I am also a firm believing in setting goals, and once you reach your goals... set higher ones. There is always room for improvement, there is always something else to strive for, and while you can be happy and content with your current state (and you should be!), I will always always always dream bigger. You only limit yourself when you stop setting goals. Think about the infinite potential that you have, and strive to reach it.

Right - April 2013, 6 months postpartum from 3rd pregnancy
Below - December 2014, 6 months after back injury during obstacle run
Right - April 2017 at Midwest Battle of the Champions at 120 pounds stage weight; single mom of three working on a single income, recovery from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), and severe depression after an abusive marriage and an abusive post-divorce relationship.
This body took a lot of hard work! 45 pounds lost, rigorous training and a strict diet. No, I didn't get to where I wanted to be, but I got close! And I keep working to get better, to get to the next stage of the battle, to push myself further. If I can get here, you can get to your goals, too!
