After 24 years in the Army, I retired and was tired of being made to work out. I only worked out once every two weeks and it wasn't anything intense. As an avid golfer, I began to notice my normal swing path was no longer possible and my favorite golf clothes were shrinking. One night, I was waiting for my wife to finish her yoga class and Kayla, who is now my trainer, was at a table trying to convince me to work out with her. After about ten minutes of her enthusiastic sale and a conversation with my wife on the way home, I made the decision that I would give it a try. I emailed Kayla that I wanted to gain flexibility and strength for golf, while also being able to lose weight.

 

Working with Kayla has been the best experience of physical training that I've ever had, even topping the military and college football training. After five months of her encouraging me to try a variety of workouts, I have successfully lost 42 pounds and over 6 inches around my waist. I now weigh less than I have weighed in the past thirten years. Her personal approach and enthusiasm for what she does has encouraged me to get the most of her workout plan by working out even when we don't have a training session. She has been flexible in moving my workout sessions when I am tied up with work or travelling on business. She has helped me moved towards my goal of weight loss of fifty pounds. Her stretching exercises have also brought back over 20 percent greater flexibility, while still building strength. I highly recommend her as a trainer for anyone, regardless of fitness level or goals.”​

I wasn't a very active person before I was diagnosed with cancer. Through chemotherapy I lost a lot of the weight I had gained after having my children, but I had also lost a lot of strength. I had a double mastectomy 6 months before I began training with Kayla, but once my doctor declared me cancer-free I decided that I wanted to get my life back. I wanted to be able to do all of the things my kids asked of me, and I didn't want to be in constant physical exhaustion. With Kayla's guidance we trained twice a week together for 30 minutes, and she provided me with a workout to do on my own on my days without her. I feel so much stronger and physically capable of anything! I can almost keep up with my son doing push-ups, and he is a boyscout!”​

"In September of 2016 I weighed about 230 lbs. I was not very active. I have several health issues and was using them as an excuse. That I "couldn't" get fit. It started with my brother wanting to eat healthy. I didn't want to be the one not trying and eating healthy. Plus, I really did want to get fit and healthy. So I started with him. After eating better for 3 weeks we decided to check out LA Fitness. We went and joined. We had our free session. We liked having training. Mostly because we didn't know what to do, and best way in which to work out. We liked Kayla from the minute we had her as a trainer. She does great with working with all types of people. We worked out 2 days with her and 2 days by ourselves every week. She wrote the workout for us, though. I started losing weight pretty quick. Every month I was losing, and loving feeling smaller and better. I now am at 185. I am still trying to lose about 10 more pounds. Now I have come to love feeling sore all the time. It makes e feel I have done something. Now also I know that exercise and eating right works. There is no substitute for it. It's hard work, and takes awhile, but I have learned good habits to keep the weight off, and to get in even better shape. I am thankful for Kayla teaching me, encouraging me, and helping me grow along this journey."
